Something that happens once usually happens again. Whether it’s a habit that becomes a pattern, a pattern that becomes a lifestyle, a fad that becomes trend, or a trend that becomes a staple, history repeats itself.
In my life, and I’m sure in everybody else’s also, there are habits, patterns, and trends that usually occur more than once because we’re stuck in the way that we are; and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. But, if your habits are what you may perceive as ”negative,” just take baby steps until the trending pattern has been eradicated and you’ve adopted a healthier alternative. For instance, if you binge on unhealthy calories when you’re feeling hungry, you may want to keep yourself full on healthy snacks all day to lose the bad cravings and binges.
In fashion, history most definitely repeats itself. We’ve been wearing skinny jeans for the past few years, men and women alike. All of a sudden, bell-bottoms are back from the 70’s. When I say “bell-bottoms are back,” I’m not talking about a little flare to pair with some high heels; I’m referring to the widest bell-bottoms that starts flaring out from the knee, and by the time it hits the floor, there’s no denying we’re back in the 70’s. I’ll gladly accept flared pants back into my closet to offset the redundant “skinny jeans,” but I’m not sold on the idea of a full-blown bell-bottom; to each their own.
Now that we’ve quickly talked about a couple of examples of ways that history repeats itself, I’m inspired to do a little bit of self-reflection. Have you ever incorporated a good habit into your daily routine that eventually became a lifestyle habit you wouldn’t change for the world? Sometimes the bad habit is easier; challenge yourself to become a better you, you won’t regret it.
Did you know?
“If a sailor is swept overboard, bell bottoms can be easily slipped off in the water, and by filling the legs with air, they can even act as a flotation device in an emergency. Also, while wading through water, bell bottoms can be rolled up on the legs to stay dry. Lastly, the longer length of bell bottom pants helps protect boots from damaging sea spray.”
