Yesterday was (a) GOOD FRIDAY, defined in the Dictionary as:
the Friday before Easter Sunday, on which the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ is commemorated in the Christian Church. It is traditionally a day of fasting and penance.
Origin
from good, in the sense ‘holy, observed as a holy day.’
For the 40 days of Lent, which began on February 14th this year, everyone chooses what they will eliminate from their diet or lifestyles in order to “fast ;” Then we arrive at the Grand Finale of Good Friday & Easter Sunday.
Without questioning the significance of this Holy Day (rather than holiday), why does being Holy or Good have to be practiced just for an occasion? I’m not asking this from a Virgin Mother Mary high horse ; it should be common sense to do no wrong, avoid gluttony, and always come from a place of love & righteousness in everything that you do.
Being that Good Friday is a day of Penance, I took time to mentally review all events that occurred since this very weekend 1 year ago, when I was in Miami with loved ones attending the Miami Open, having feasts over deep discussions, and enjoying Paradise.
After reflection over the past year, I couldn’t be any happier or closer to God. I have given up the comfort of having a home which hoarded all my prized materialistic possessions for 9 months to drift along the path of simplicity, minimalism, & holiness while maintaining a career serving an underserved community. After 9 months, like the time it takes for a fetus to develop in the womb, my journey ended on the first day of Lent {the day I finally settled in a new apartment}. The time span to incubate a fetus before it becomes a person on this Earth is equal to the time which was needed to awaken to a higher level of being in this Universe, not just on Earth.
Now, on the path to everlasting fasting of anything ungodly during the calendar year of 365 Holy Days, I’m getting rid of all things that don’t serve a higher purpose; meaning all materialistic fetishes will be eliminated and donated to charity, like a heavy weight being released {along with the hefty bill of a storage unit which houses belongings that are “wanted” yet not “needed”}. Nothing man-made shall become a liability which costs undue emotional attachment or clutter which clouds the bigger picture.
The bigger picture is different to everyone. What is your “Why?” or your Purpose? Does everyone just go back to living sinful lives after Easter Sunday?
Every year we should all be EVOLVING, not REVOLVING ; unless you were born at your highest potential 😉
