Sometimes in life, even if you are not seeking trouble and you’re filled with optimism, you’ll end up finding yourself in a bad place where there may be another party involved. There are so many interactions daily that occur without much thought behind it, and with a small dose of savoir vivre, each of these interactions would be a pleasant one; regardless of what the situation at hand is.
I’ve heard that “misery loves company” and it seems to be true; communicating, working, and “mingling” with a negative person exemplifies this. Anyone that has ever had to deal with the negative energy of a pessimist while maintaining your smile can relate. Happiness starts from within, and when it’s ingrained in you, nothing can take it away. Happiness is not about material things, making a certain amount of money, attaining the latest release from your favorite brand (of clothes, purses, cars), etc.; if your happiness could be bought, it could also easily be stolen.
Health is wealth; rather than associating yourself with negativity that will eventually take a toll on you and your sense of wellbeing, it’s better to walk away and not entertain it. The same way you’d only pay $2000 for a pair of shoes if it were of high quality, time and energy should be spent on worthwhile matters also. Nothing or nobody outside of yourself should have the power of robbing you of your dignity, manners, and savoir vivre. If you opt to disgracefully fight back to “prove” something, just remember, it takes two fools to have an argument.
Note: If you’ve been the aggressor in negative situations, you can change your ways by being mindful of your behavior. Before the day starts and encounters are made with a plethora of different kinds of people in various situations, just make sure you’ve had your daily dose of savoir vivre (morning coffee, a cup of positiviTEA, a good breakfast, a morning run, a talk with your pet, meditation, self awareness, or whatever you need to start each day on the right foot).
